Exclusion Criteria

Ketamine therapy is not advised if you have:

  1. Bipolar Disorder, Current Manic or Hypomanic Episode:

    • Active manic or hypomanic episodes in individuals with bipolar disorder may be a contraindication due to the risk of worsening symptoms.

  2. Severe Cardiovascular Conditions:

    • Unstable or severe cardiovascular conditions, such as recent heart attack, severe hypertension, or heart failure, may increase the risk of cardiovascular complications.

  3. Uncontrolled Hypertension:

    • Individuals with uncontrolled hypertension may be excluded due to the potential for increased blood pressure during ketamine administration.

  4. History of Seizure Disorders:

    • Individuals with a history of seizures may be at an increased risk of experiencing seizures during or after ketamine administration.

  5. Pregnancy or Breastfeeding:

    • The safety of ketamine during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been well-established, so caution is advised, and exclusion may be considered.

  6. Allergy or Hypersensitivity to Ketamine:

    • Individuals with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to ketamine or related substances should be excluded.

  7. Significant Medical Conditions:

    • Presence of significant medical conditions, such as severe liver or kidney dysfunction, may require exclusion due to potential complications.

  8. History of Psychotic Disorders:

    • Individuals with a history of schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders may be excluded due to the potential for exacerbation of symptoms.
